Love a Maccy D’s?

This homemade take on the famous burger sauce recipe will have you shouting ‘I’m lovin’ it.’ What’s more you will likely have most of the ingredients in your store cupboard ready to rock, including those sauce bottles with just a little bit left.

Makes about 150 millilitres

Ingredients

  • 100 millilitres mayonnaise

  • 2 tablespoons of pickle relish

  • 1 tablespoon of American style mustard (or half a tablespoon on Dijon if that is what you have)

  • 1/2 tablespoon of barbecue sauce

  • 5 tablespoons of cider vinegar (white wine or red wine vinegar will work if that is what you have)

  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika

  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt

Method

  1. Add mayonnaise, relish, mustard, apple cider vinegar, and seasonings. Whisk to combine well.

  2. Place covered in the fridge for at least an hour so the flavours combine well.

  3. This will be delicious on a burger, but also great as an America style salad dressing.

Food savvy tip

  • If you have just a little bit of ketchup left in that sauce bottle that you can’t quite reach with a knife, pop the whole bottle (with the lid on) in your warm water and it should get it moving again.
